So now its all over. Everyone asks “What’s it like travelling with a toddler?”. Well, its just the same as HAVING a toddler. The same ups and downs, stresses, good days and bad, thinking that you might crack up one minute and die of overwhelming joy the next. That, plus a bike trailer. Oh, and trying to make sure there is always food. And somewhere to sleep.

Of course it wasn’t the same as previous trips. How can it be? Life isn’t the same. The main difference this trip being that now just finding food and accommodation was enough of an adventure when you are thinking about a one year old in the trailer. That said, there were doors opened to us that would be impossible if not travelling as a family, people whose hearts were softened by the blonde headed angel in front of them, discounts made, houses opened up, people to be met, parents connecting accross language barriers. Children are universal, and so people allowed us into their circles because there was suddenly an easy way to connect.

Aran loved every minute. He had a ball. He settled in after 3 days and after that thought that it was the most normal thing in the world to bag our bags in the morning and find a “new house”. He never seemed overwhelmnd even though he probably had as much stimulation in that trip than I had in my entire childhood.

Definitely worked out even better than I hoped and would definitely repeat if given the chance.
