We decided that before we do our last stretch of biking we need to sample some of that famous crystal clear island water which we hadn’t yet seen. We had up until now been slightly disappointed by the quality of the water once we were south of Phuket, around Krabi and the islands, and in amongst all the throngs all looking for the perfect beach. But we weren’t quite ready to give up on the search either so we decided to give it one more shot to find that spot. We decided on a whim on Kho Bulon, reported to be in an ideal stage of development (if you get that)….places to stay but not too soiled by tourism. And so it was, with lovely coral for snorkelling, quiet paradisy beaches, one bar and no roads. Aran got to drive the speedboat which he loved…and is now telling everyone he meets that he comes from Bangkok. We could have stayed forever really, but we wanted to do some more biking. Only one week riding before home!

So now that we have had our fill of paradise, we are off to the east coast for the last leg. We have found a stretch of coast that has secondary roads, and probably not that much on it, but after the Andaman we are ready for a bit of real Thai life, even if it means that the beaches aren’t the ones in the films. We are going back to Satun, and from there heading west and then north to Khannon.

Not sure a two man kayak is needed yet

Bliss…
