So since leaving Kho Phayam, we have had a mixed bag. A lovely boat ride took us back to yucky Ranong where we boarded a packed bus to Takua Pa to avoid riding out of Ranong and get to a coastal road. Aran spewed into the busy aisle in the last kilometres.
Touristy paradise gave way to Thai market towns and funny accommodations. We past Kho Lak which is full of Germans on a short stretch of beach towns and then onto stretches of empty beach with little market towns every now and then. Winding coconut grove days and one intensely hot hilly highway day has left us just north of Phuket island. After all we have heard about the disgusting development and oversaturated Phuket, it is surprising to be just 20 ks north of there and be on completely deserted beaches without a tourist in sight.
Tomorrow we have an early start, to cross onto Phuket island and cycle to a port in the north east of the island in hope of getting a boat to Kho Yao Island. The usual lengthy pleading to let the bikes and trailer on awaits!
