Got here after cycling up the most gruelling hill i’ve ever seen. mae salong is about 1000m, which is not that much, but on the way you go to 1000m twice and then descend to the valley bottom again. the third climb is outragously steep and requires wiggling side to side even in lowest gear. This is a chinese/thai town settled by chinese refugees who now grow tea here and sell maggot-snacks and other chinese delicacies. There are of course the usual lovely temples and chedis(towers) caked in gold…gotto go, eggs are ready!
