This has been the busiest road in all of Laos. Not to say that that means a lot of traffic, but 80% of the traffic we have seen has been on this stretch. And lots of bike tourers…..amazing stories from people of all sorts…First timers, veterans, one poor guy who was on day two only and asked if there would be a lot of hills between here and Nepal!
We stopped off at some hot springs at to recover from some ridiculous hills, a 1700m day, and a stomach bug, but on realising that our visas were about to expire were pushed into a few 100k days on the trot via Veng Viang (of the buckets fame), Taalat, and onwards towards the imcreasingly busy and commercial surrounds of Vientiane.

Reaching Vientiane after the weeks of cycling in rural Laos it was incredible to see the changes in building materials, the change of pace, the “luxury” goods on offer…
