Flashpacking in Ko Kao Yai

After a great day of small roads and empty beaches approaching Phuket island we had some mile munching highway kms (including 2nd puncture of trip – see coconut jack in pic) to get a ferry to Ko Yao. We went to the wrong pier in Ban Bang Rong and missed our boat. We luckily convinced a cargo longtail to let us on so the bikes were heaped high on a pile of washing machines, caged birds and buckets and off we went. We had a stroke of luck on arriving at the accommodation that we pre-booked (first reservation of the trip and learned our lesson arriving late to Kho Phayam) as the owner had given away our room assuming that we weren’t coming and so then gave us a sea view beach front house for the same price even though they go for 100e per night. We are looking out from our bed to the limestone outcrops of Krabi accross the bay.
