Off to Langkawi we went as our Thailand visa required us to go and stay out 4 days…so we went to Langkawi in Malaysia where we discovered that Thai food is actually the world’s second best. A bit more touristy than our usual spots (and hard to admit after the effort of getting here that its not really our cup of tea) so what could we do but transform ourselves into typical punters and traipse around the aquarium and browse some souvenirs. Elina even bought a keyring, but lost it within 5 minutes. Lots of cheeky monkeys around and nice beaches and huge plates of cheap delicious curry washed down with cans of skol lager.
We found some great beaches on the north side of the island, away from the jetskis/parasailing/reggae bars….etc of Tansai Penang

| Some of the best food this trip was in a small stand of tables on the side of the road somewhere in the north of this island. We were helped in choosing by some local schoolkids who all spoke and understood English. |
