The Adriatic Sea, between Italy and Croatia is famed for its lovely blueness and clearness…When we arrived, however there had been some massive storms which caused it to be rather brown and choppy and cloudy. Well used to the little disappointments of both life and travel, we took advantage of still being in Italy and continued eating pizza as much as possible, and after a couple of days, the sea cleared up and all was as promised in holiday brochures (do they still exist?)

Before it cleared up, we rode bikes and explored the rather rubbish-strewn towns where we first hit the Adriatic near Pescara and tried to tidy up the caravan a bit as it still was suffering from having a year’s worth of stuff thrown into it at home…

The weather was great so rather than rushing forth to the town of Bari where we were to catch the ferry to Croatia, we lingered at a funny little campsite run by a very nosy man who liked to ride up and down on his bike all day peering into the campers and tents and asking if all was tutto bene!

A few more pics of the town of Bari, where they make pasta by hand on the streets….

Then off to Croatia on the ferry where we found our old favourite Slovenian beer at astronomical prices!
